Happy Gokulashtmi

Govinda Aala Re aala…
Zara Matki Sambhal Brij Bala

Festive season is in full swing in India. After Rakshabandhan now Gokulashtmi/Janmashtmi (Celebrated on the birth occasion of Lord Krishna)… the best part of the festival is breaking of “Matki” (Pot). In Mumbai this festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Teams of young guys are trained for this purpose. Ofcourse, the incentive is huge prize money. At certain places it takes 12-15 pyramids of guys structure to break the Matki…
The whole group of enthu guys try to break the Matki and another enthu crowd throw water from buildings to break the pyramid and avoid them from reaching the Matki… Wow it’s so fun watching it.
The enthu was seen in our office too… we too celebrated this festival.

The "Matki"... in front of our Office and guys charged up... festive songs at the back adding to the momentum

And after some tries... falling down... there they go... reaches the "Matki"

And the Celebration time... it was fun... although it took them hardly 20min.

I remember this festival very closely coz years back when I was a kid, on this day… while playing with my friend I fell down and got that deep cut near my left eye…
My parents were out for work and the my bhaiyas (elder bros) and aunty where I used to go for “baby sitting” took care of me… the dress I was wearing got completely red with blood… they were damn tensed… rushed me to the hospital… had 3 stitches…
cant forget this day… and my bhaiya...

I’ll be going to Surat on Saturday morning for some official work. It’s so pathetic to work on weekends and specially during a festive day… cant help…

Will catch you guys on Monday… Have a great weekend and Happy Gokulashtmi to all of you.

Wow - Puneet the stuff going on in your blog right now (and I mean the comments more than your postings) are pretty wild! Lots of hugging and blushing and whatnot going on... hmmm. ;)
I'll remember to wish you and Unaiza Nasim happy birthdays soon, since they are getting so close! Unaiza Nasim, I saw your photo next to your comments, and in case you haven't heard this yet today (although I'm sure you have), you are so gorgeous!
Here are some photos of me, friends, etc, on flickr you guys can check out if you want - there will be more up there later this week though. :)
