Just keep blessing as you have always done…

On Sunday I went to “Sidhivinayak” temple… it was long due, and was getting postponed… so with my bike up and running I was in an ideal position to visit there.

God and I have good understanding… he said, “Kid, tit for tat… u took so much time to come here…now wait for my darshan”… there was a long queue, but who cares…

At times it’s fun to stand in queue and watch people…
some were so impatient… gosh they have come to a temple… be human atleast
some were busy talking on cell phones thru out… wish there was a network connecting heaven…
some guys n gals in groups… gossiping around and killing time…
some kids really anxious to know… how long…and parents trying their best to convince them…

some guys looking around for pretty girls … (Sometimes I also do that, in-fact a lot of time)…
some were really so dedicated that they had joined their hands and were praying thru out…
and some like me who came alone and are hopeless to the core …. were just watching people around…(and try to make up stories to blog ;-))

What runs thru your mind when you are standing in a queue while visiting a temple???

I being a very selfish guy… do a self run of all the things that I intend to ask him… right from money, good health, to peace of mind…I mean everything :-)
I also arrange them priority wise so that incase of short of time… the best and most wanted are not missed… he he he

But, how much ever I’m prepared with my list… the moment I glance the idol and look at his eyes…tears fill my eyes…
(This happens most of the time when I’m in Shirdi or Sidhivinayak; last time in Shirdi I had to practically wipe my tears…)
The first word that comes to my mind is “Thank U”…
and a lot many times, after coming out I realise that I forget to ask what I wanted to…
But do we really need to ask… he provides when it’s due…

Some times I feel very restless and realise that a lot of things, which are not in my control, are really bothering me… then my inner voice says… “you stupid boy… its long since god saw you at his door step… pl be humble, take out time of ur busy routine and give him a visit…”

After a visit… I feel a lot better and a lot more positive… It may be just in the mindset… but so far as it gives me peace of mind, I’m content.

I’m not a very strong believer of idol worships but there are some temples, which I visit quite often and have a lot of faith in.

What about “U”… Do you believe in God... or idol worship?

difficult to answer ur question! Becoz it can't be explained in a single line.still i will try..

The easier part is abt visiting temples!
I can't stand dhakkam dhuuka in a temple so i never venture in a temple full of people , pandas and too much noise!
Some of my worst exp are associated with Kali Bari in Kolkota & Jaganath temple at Puri

Haan agar kis ki mukh mudra dekh ke natmastak hone ki baat karoon to mere liye aisa anubhav sirf bhagwaan budhha ki pratima ko dekh ke hua hai aur baraha hua hai. There is something in his facial expression jise dekhte hi man mein shradhdha umad padti hai. apart from budhdha vihars my other two memorable experiences have been at Bahai Temple at Delhi & Kashi Viswanath temple at Benaras!Bahai temple ki wo adbhut shanti aur kashi Viswanath mandir mein kokil kanth si goonjti us bhakta ki aawaz mujhe really us adrishya shakti ke kareeb le jane mein safal huyi thi.
aur bhagwan se kuch mangna tabhi chor diya jab mujhe ye lagne laga ki main unhein yaad tabhi karta hoon jab museebat mein phasoon!

so ab meri philosophy yahi hai ki apna kaam yani karma karna hai uparwale ki marzi hogi to jo unko dena hoga juroor denge! Uske liye kahin jane ki juroorat nahin aur bina achche kaam kiye huye kahin jakar bhi kuch nahin hone wala:)

Very heartening post, Puneet.

I personally do not believe in idol worship but I do believe in God and the powers of prayers. The important thing is that prayers should be able to touch upon the infinite, beyond the form. And it does not matter if you visit a temple or not, your prayers will be answered only if its backed by action. If your mind is calm, heart is clear and will is strong, the Lord's grace will be on you even tho you are physically shattered.

Wut an awesome topic Puneet!

lolz so u go to the temple to look at pretty girls...hehehe...I've seen guys staring at girls when we go to the Murugan and Vishnu temples here in Sydney...they r always womanising - rather doing what God wanted men to do lol!

Besides I was like u b4...used to ask for things from God...like exams, career etc :) But I have stopped all that now...I know that nothing can be changed by asking God for things.
Rather, I see it as God is there wanting me to do what He asked from me.

I truly believe in God n u cud say to a certain extent I'm religious. But I dun follow anything blindly...coming from a Hindu n Buddhist background, I believe in the philosophies behind the religion - that what a religion should be is a way of life. We have to live it rather than pray everyday. Praying is great but not if u cant practise the teachings in real life. That's why they say 'The hands that do service are holier than the lips that pray'...

Yeah I do believe in God, n there's only one of Him with different manifestations.

Insightful post!
Keshi.

@ Manish...
Sabse pehle thanx so much for sharing all your experience...
I've never been to any of those temples... kyoki kabhi mauka hi nahin mil paya...
Bilkul sahin kaha... hum aksar bhagwan ko tab yaad karte hain jab musibat main hote hain...

"bina achche kaam kiye huye kahin jakar bhi kuch nahin hone wala"
very true... aapki philosophy bahut achi lagi aur hum bhi us par vishwas rakhte hain...

But still I do visit temple chahe kuch mangna ho ya na...

Aapke vichar sey puri tarah sehmat hoon... humari prarthna se zada important humare karm hain...

Thanks buddy... Cheers

@ Dewdrop...
Thank u so much...
"prayers will be answered only if its backed by action"
Very well said...
If people all over will have such views then there wont be any fights in the name of religion and God...

@ Keshiiiiii
Thanx so much dear...
Let me clarify first... I dont visit temple to watch pretty girls its just that if I'm standing in a queue and have nothing to do...
;-) (rest is implied)

I agree that nothing can be changed by asking God for things...
For me God is like a father... and i'm a kid... so like a kid I keep asking for all the things without even bothering that I get them or not...
Its just like when a kid enters a departmental store he is so impressed by the glitter and fancy things around him… he wants everything in his trolley but the parents are there to keep a check… coz kid is after all a kid…
I know he will give me only what I deserve... and what I need
And what I want may not be always my need (Economics funda ;-))

'The hands that do service are holier than the lips that pray'
Awesome quote...
Impressed with your view and thinking...(yet again)
Deeds are more important than the prayers...

Smilz n Cheers

ok ok I didnt say ur a womaniser lol...calm down :) Any normal guy wud do that if he sees a pretty girl in temple clothes, bindi n praying peacefully...that's an awesome scene for a guy to watch :) And yep Kids r allowed to do that too lol!

***And what I want may not be always my need (Economics funda ;-))...

hahaha this reminded me of my Economics classes bak at Uni...needs, wants n micro & macro Econ lol!

'Hands that do service r holier than the lips that pray' is the quote I go by...I see alot of ppl yak yak yak abt Service when they come to holy places...but they dun really do anything for God...they just offer flowers, money, food, milk n hope for a bright future...isnt that easy?

And I didnt mean any offense to ppl who offer stuff to Gods, even my family does that...but wut I mean is like Dewdy said, those offerings n prayers need to be backed by action. We need to ask the question 'What would God want from us'...certainly not material items...it wud mainly be character and service to fellow-beings starting from family to community and the world...

I'm cool dear... BTW... if u are under an impression that girls over here visit temple in traditional clothes, bindi n all then thats not correct... they are also in western dressing... and that is very much justified... u dont need a dress code to visit temple... its again the feelings that counts :-)
I recall some of my female friends saying... I'm in jeans, it looks odd to visit temple... i say wat the hec... i can't see a logic in that...

Ya people often feel by offering materialistic things they can do away with their sins... he he he

Agree with you... even I offer money... flowers... sweet...
I'm just trying to change the perception here...
there r so many families who are running this business... atleast by buying from their shops we are helping them to grow their business... its an indirect way of God supporting those families ...

What say... :-)>

Cheers

PS: Economics n Mathematics r my all time Favs...

hey puneet ..visiting temple is just about the time ... may be wen he wants u to be there he wil call u and make his way out ..til then watever u do ..u will not be able to visit the temple ...man u wont believe ..i still havn't visited shirdi ... its just the "time factor" ..thing will happen only at the right time ...

got a nice quote for u...

"GOD answers Prayers in 3 ways ... He says YES & gives u wat u want ... He says No & gives u something better ..... He says Wait & gives u the Best in his own time "

HI Uttara..........
First wen i read, "visiting temple is just about the time"
i disagreed but ur next statement made things clear...

There is saying for "Shirdi"... that u can visit there only when "Baba" calls... and when he calls no1 can stop u...
i've experienced this a lot
I try to make atleast 2 visits in a year... In April I went... so again might go during Oct-Dec...
hope u'll have ur turn sooon :-)

Thanks for the quote...

Tk Cr...

I havent visited Siddhivinayak temple for quite a long time now. I wanna go there soon. It gives me a sort of strength from inside and my belief in god is not shaken.

My family visits there every year...so me accompany at times when Im in mumbai.

As far as praying every day is concerned....I've kinda minimised that...but I still believe god is around to punish me when I do something really bad.

Nice one d000d
Greetz!!

Yep true Puneet...dress code aint imp...I used to go in jeans sometimes n my mum didnt like it :( so now whenever I go to the temple I go in shalwars or saree...not that it adds value to my praying but sometimes respect should be given for a place of worship...

Yep by buying flowers etc ur doing service to someone out there and so that means ur doing the best for God...good work Puneet :)
