Media is just selling scrap

Yesterday while having dinner I was watching news and some channel was taking interview of Vikram Bhatt (Film maker) about the clandestine relationship of Aamir Khan. I watched it for sometime, and then said FO.

I don’t understand what media has to do with personal lives of anyone. Just because that person is a celebrity doesn’t mean all his acts and actions should come under lime light. That’s his personal life; let him do what ever he wants.

Photo clicked by me while watching Mangal Pandey

This is not the only case… just few days back Karishma Kapoor’s broken marriage was in news… and people were so interested in watching it…and not only that, after watching, the whole issue being discussed in various groups and everyone giving their personal comments (vishesh tippani).

It somehow irritates me a lot, there is so much to capture and discuss but the media just want masala… infact they make masala out of simple stuff.

Disgusting!!!

After capturing the rains in Mumbai, did any media channel captured whether the family of victims and the people who have suffered losses got any compensation… and what should be done to do so?
The state government has asked some huge compensation from the central government, which has been duly sanctioned too… but where will this money go…
Is there any accountability? What are the ground realities?
Better to capture that…

Some of my friend’s houses were filled with water and they have suffered huge losses but no one has come to their place to do any enquiry…and I’m sure this will be the case with most of the sufferers.

Mumbai - 26th July 05

Money will be sanctioned and will be swallowed by the politicians… and don’t be surprised to find a surcharge being imposed by the Government in the next Budget.

What is Media doing over here… they only want their TRP ratings…

I still don’t understand why people enjoy discussing celebrities’ private life, infact for that matter discussing anybody’s private life. Covering it as a news line is still ok but the amount of footage they give is certainly not worth.

This reminds me of the dialogue of Raj Kumar
“Jinke Ghar Kanch Ke Hote Hain…
Woh Auro Ke Ghar Main Pathar Nahin Feka Karte”
Mujhe yaakin hain aaj ki taarikh main ghar bhale hi kanch ke na ho par hum sabke ghar ke kuch hissey zarur kaanch ke hain.

Appreciate a person for his profession unless he is known to you at a personal level.

The easiest thing is to criticise and the toughest is to accept it.

Hey puneet..

Me first time over here and was very well impressed by ur today's post...

even i was disturbed by the same fat that media only hypes things for their TRP rates and monetory advancements...

You are very true when pointing out about the bombay flood victims who are not focussed now after the deluge...Media hell care about the sufferings..Another case is with the Imrana rape case..

It was not noticed for a long time and when politicians came into picture for their avantages or not, it was hyped...But now,no further followings or nothing..No body knows whats happening with them..Because they got more exciting news..Aamirs mooch, karishma's talaaq, govinda's wife's miraculous car accident escapade...and wt not..
very true...sometimes media is just full of crap...

That's what your opinion is, however there are many Indians out there who sadly do like to gossip and talk about other peoples business.

You can't blame the media because the media is only catering for what people want to know or hear bout.

Nice post mate.

Hi Welcome to my Blog :-))
Happy to know you liked the post...
This was going in my mind since long and finally yesterday I lost it...
Its high time they realise their responsibilty.
Its ok to report about celebraties but on front page or as main news... not acceptable
Even TOI is getting worse every day...
Nice to know your views...
Thanks for your visit...
Keep coming

Cheers

@4u2nvau/Rohit...
Hi... Welcome to my Blog...

Yes, that is very much my personal opinion... and personally I pity those Indians who are hungry for such gossips.

I feel Media has the power and capability to make audience more mature...

Thanks Dude

Terrific post Puneet!

btw I'm 4th here, so not too bad ;-)

I so agree with u...the problem with the whole world is this! Media dun give enough attention to areas that need it...but when it comes to gossip n crap it's across the screens n papers in big fat letters. If u think abt it just look at how many gossip mags r there for women compared to educational ones? In Aus there's Women's Weekly, Woman's Day, New Idea, New Weekly, Woman, wut not! They all carry gos abt celebrities n nuttin else...n yes like NV says there's a good market for it!

I think it's human nature to want to have a peak into other ppl's pvt lives...it's curiosity snd it's ugly! But it rules...unfortunately. I think ppl need to realise that even celebrities r humans like us and they need their privacy...

Great points there Puneet...an eye-opener for many.

lol Vinu ur comment was great n funny...so true, even a simple accident of a celebrity is exaggerated when there r 100s of normal ppl dying from accidents daily...

Hiiiiii dear...
I still couldnt figure out when you are online and wen not ;-)
Watching u closely now ;-)

Over here also gossips magz are selling more than educational ones...
But my point is why to cover such gossips n celeb news on the front page and in the main news...
let it be "Page 3".

Even at our lunch table people discuss abt persnl lives of celeb... I cant stand it.

Regarding that accident, I heard that a copter was sent for the rescue... copters didnt came to rescue wen people were dying in Mumbai...
and its we who will pay for it
Sad...

Actually wen I sw ur comment I went to ur blog... hoping for the reply... I guess I've to wait more :-)

Thanks dear...

good job..

just yesterday Madonna was in news cos she broke her while bone horse riding. I felt that was the worthless news to take up a good 20 mins on prime news time. Its really absurd for media to air celebrity news on regular news channel even when they have special shows dedicated for celebrity gossip

I agree with you completely! I felt bad for poor Karisma Kapoor. Her marriage is breaking up and the media is just hovering over her like vultures! It is so disgusting! Just because these people are in the public eye doesn't give us the right to encroach on their private lives.

Well it is easier to sell such stories ! Because we the public are always so eager to listen to it! aakhir taali ek hath se nahin bajti.

and its a worldwide phenomena & indian TV media is now catching up with the best! the only sol is to use ur remote if u r genuinely not interested. :)

As for the Celebrities they use media and in turn media thrives on their gossip its a closed circuit !

Look how a person like Aamir Khan who generally keeps a distance from media is easily avaiable from MTV to even POGO to promote his new movie.

@Manish
hey dear... good to cu after a long time :-)
the question here is not promoting a movie... its about interfering into some1's personal life :-)

ya we do change channel but that is not a solution... that is avoidin the problem ... what say

agreed taali ek sath nahin baj ti hain... thats y i hate those people who are hungry for such gossips ...

bt still i do feel that media has a social responsibility considering the power they have :-)
