Scissors cutting the scenes or the clothes…

I was watching “Yeh Dillagi”, on TV, and the song came “Hoton pe bus tera naam hain”…and my sis and me had a conversation that this song was supposed to be one of the hottest number of that era… and we were laughing coz it was no more appealing now…

The trend has changed drastically… an onscreen kiss used to be very rare and anything more than that was only shown by directing towards a garden full of roses, fire burning or may be a sun set… and the rest was left for the audience to understand…

Infact even a kiss in the movie used to sell that movie… if “Raja Hindustani” will be remembered then for the makeover of Karishma Kapoor & the onscreen kiss with Aamir. There were some more movies like that…

But today, an onscreen kiss or steamy scenes are not exceptional… every second movie is sold on the basis of such publicity… be it movie trailers or MMS… producers know that skin sells…

Off late… Aashiq Banaya Aapne had a steamy scene… so did the recent realize Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena… and can anyone forget “Murder”… and these were not the typical Bollywood steamy scenes…

(lemme divert from the topic for a moment, I recently saw EKEH , and I loved the movie… am sure most of the audience will not like it… I loved the pranks shown in the movie and ofcourse Koena Mitra… she is one hot n smart bong babe)
Ok back now…

My whole point is the impact which these movies or rather such scenes have on the kids… the movie definitely gets the “A” certificate… but that’s only for watching the movie in the theater… and most of such scenes are already shown in the trailers… shouldn’t Censor board restrict showing of such scenes on TV… what’s your thought???

Secondly how comfortable are you watching such scenes in front of your family…
(This reminds me of the post by z000nie on Titanic ;-). Other day “Aashiq Banaya Aapne” was coming on the TV and I knew when that steamy song/scene was going to come and I smartly changed the channel before that scene… I still can’t watch such scenes in front of my parents… I’m not comfortable…

Few months back when I was sitting in the salon and waiting for my turn… two kids…probably in 7th – 8th std were discussing about the genuineness of the MMS clips starring Mallika, Riya Sen and others… I was taken back for a moment… I laughed at myself and remembered that when I was in 7th … my friend had told me the process, which leads to the birth of a baby… and I was like yaaaks… (Now I’m laughing again)…

I would like to know your thoughts… should sensor sharpen the scissors or no big deal… these things have to be accepted with the change of time…

this is 1 reasong i dont watch TV too much coz i dont feel comfortable..
no doubts the trend is changing ...
n it is effecting young generation.....
as i commented on my blog:

"some songs dont even need onscreen kissing or any hotshot, only words can do alot"

the songs like : roop tera masta, pyaar mera deewana, bhool koi humse na hojaye, was more sensual n romantic then any song til date....lolz n i still get butterfly feelings in my stomach when ever i watch that song ..hehehehe, and i dont feel uncomfortable if i watch this song with my family....

***I smartly changed the channel before that scene***

***should sensor sharpen the scissors or no big deal…***

Today's Hindi movies r worse than Hollywood R-rated movies...all u ever see is 90% naked gyrating girls...I sometimes wonder if Indian girls really walk down the street wearing such clothes in India?? Do they? I don't think so. I mean even in Aus there's a level of decency in women. So I believe they have such scenes in Indian movies 'cos they fantasise so much abt what they cant have in real...

With censorship, well that's why they have classifications of movies...G, PG, M, R etc...but as for the trailers on TV, well in Aus they advertise adult-related movies/ads only after 9pm...and sometimes only on certain channels and ofcourse they classify the ads even. So parents can change the channel b4 the ad starts etc.

I don't know how India controls it but I really don't think it's going to have a major effect on kids even if they show such ads or not...cos the kid who's interested in such things will find some way to get access to it, TV or not...don't forget the Internet! So what really must happen is the parents guiding their kids in the right direction, instead of waiting for the board of censorship to take steps...:)

hindi movies are much much more provocative than per say 'angrez' or western productions are.

and whats worse is that cinema/media/entertainment is supposed to be a portal into the place's culture, i.e. thier religon, thier likes and dislikes etc.through malika sharavatt and riya sen movies, all you see is as my mom says 'kapray ki kammi'.
oh the guys, the models, abraham, dino and co., thier importance is one of man whores.

seriously its sick because even though I am not indian but i come from very close to the indian culture and our cultures do not consist of such ideas, let alone such public displays. there are of course goods and bads to the public but in my experience, i have never seen an indian girl walk around with a strapless midd rip nor even a tiny pair of shorts that these 'naye zamanay ki heroins are strutting around in'

oh and the mms issue, haha its a joke. i watched this program on hindi mtv on the summer and they were discussing mms and porn. its sad, very sad. technology is being used for filthy perverted goals and its sickening that us as the youth are being either victimised or are victimising others in this accord.

uff okay so i blabbed a lot. i feel so strongly against the recent media that i just had to say something.
found your link through Dawn's blog. for a second, i thought it was my friend puneet, but coming here, i realised, my friend is a she.:)

Kidding…

they fantasise so much abt what they cant have in real...
oohoo that’s a good logic…

So parents can change the channel b4 the ad starts
ye that’s agreed…
bt here those are not the typical adult movies… just one scene or one song which glamorized like hell… if u take away that song/scene the movie will still work…

the kid who's interested in such things will find some way to get access to it
this reminds me of the proverb… Ignorance is bliss… sometimes it is…

So what really must happen is the parents guiding their kids in the right direction
that ofcourse all parents do or make an attempt towards… but the autonomy which kids are enjoying… is it justified… I dun no…

thanks babezzz… itz always great reading ur comment ;-)

Indian movies today are all about revealing skin and so called seducing dances. Steamy scenes and even certain somg sequences are absolutely not worth watching with families. Like Keshi said atleast the Hollywood movies are correctly catagorized R, PG etc. Indian movies inspite of their ratings tend to show the weirdesat of contents. In the US kids usually watch only their shows unlike of kids in India on whom the effect of Bollywood is unbelivably enormous. Not only just Bollywood turn on any Indian channel, game shows or comedy programs it all revolves around movies, actors, actresses and songs.

If they continue ths trend os showing R rated content in movies so freely I only wonder what will become of our kids 5 to 10 years down the line.

skin sells ok but upto a limit! Audience will get more and more used to it & emphasis on it will gradually reduce. As Keshi rightly said that we tend to over exaggrate & fantsize things which we do not have easily in our daily lifes.
As for our culture & social behaviour it keeps changing with time . Ten -Fifteen years ago we never dreamt of seeing thee mms'a. now they r in vogue.

I think the uncomfortable part is correct fo everybody but the fact that u have enjoyed it alone or with ur frens indicates that in general still there is demand for such things.

well amazing post i must say...thougt to ponder ..:)

I also agree..with such scenes that Miss Dutta..who is I am understanding miss beauty queen...horrible image I must say...as I did watch this movie at a friends place and believe me...I have no respect..its not that we dont watch such scenes..but they are done much respectful manner where one doesnt feel its vulgar...and this one purely shows its mere not required and unwelcomed.
As, in North America ...kids know a lot many things at an early stage mere due to the culture and the teaching and awareness for many safety reasons...and I think kids also watch these infront of parents as ..parents dont want kids to hide anything about there personal life...so it also brings an openness ..among them...but this movie..really I had to tell them to shut it down :)!!!
So..to summarize...:D anything can be watched if the scene is a demand of the story...:) and not just mere to expose and bring in vulgarity and market to the movie...which is I suppose short living :)
great one though Puneet I must say it :)

kids are just been a victim of poor civilized thought and they are ready to accept may be dirty things spread and attract first

Sensuality and vulgarity are different ... and therez just a thin line between the two actually!

These days kids know a HELL LOT... i mean i've seen little kids talkin abt such stuff .... then i think 'gosh was i so dumb then or the time has really changed?'

Yeah it certainly is a bit embarassing watching such movies when parents are arnd ... but gradually we've gotten used to it!!

If they dont show such steamy scenes in the trailors ... how will the film sell??? So the best answer to this is....Change with the changing times coz as i alwez say ... 'Change is the only constant factor in life!'

@ dwaipayan
hi
Welcome to my Blog

every small locality has atleast one cd parlour .and u can hire a blue film for just 10 bucks.so.....
I agree with u...
bt watching a blue movie is diff n inserting unwanted sex scenes in a normal movie is different... dont u think so...
n just becoz such things r available at cheap price... does it mean we can display them on screen without having ne responsibility...
i mean... i hold a diff view...

thanks so much for sharing ur opinion...
keep coming

take care
Cheers
