They say its illegal…

They spent their hard earned money to buy that house…

They stayed there for years…
Without any single objection from anyone

When the building was constructed
They paid Stamp Duty to the Government
And got the flat registered under one of the prevailing Acts of Govt.

Till years they must be paying
Electricity bill… Municipal tax to the government…
(Which are also considered as an address proof)

And now after years some “High Court” has given a Notice to demolish some 850 buildings…

This happened first in a place near Mumbai called “Ulhasnagar”… (“Mid Day Article”)
then yesterday I heard about a similar incident happening in Delhi… and today I heard on radio that some notices are sent to some places in Mumbai…

Now this is really a cause for worry…

Buildings can’t be constructed overnight… without any support from government authorities (including local police)

Imagine the number of family that would be homeless… on roads just because of some bureaucrats who must have filled their never fulfilling lure with green bucks and of course the builders who are a breed whom one cant ever trust…

The most unfortunate part is… the common man is getting the axe… why only he should suffer… how can those bureaucrats who would have cleared those plans can go untouched… and the builders… why should they sleep peacefully…

Why shouldn’t the effected families be given a proper compensation atleast?

Too add to the mess, when few months back, Mumbai municipal corporation decided to clean away the slum areas... who have also illegally occupied those places and are equally unauthorised... Sonia Gandhi stopped the act of muncipal authorities... what is she doing now... busy with her Christmas celebrations???

In a city like Mumbai… it takes a man’s entire life to own a house of his own… so that atleast his generation could live in peace and here the government is talking about taking the shelter from thousands without even considering their grief.

What kind of democracy we claim to live in???

Unfortunately This beautiful country is ruled by bunch of Lunatics who are mostly busy with building their fortunes and we the tax payers suffer because we generally donot retaliate,Unfortunately the great Indian Middle class which is the highest tax payer also has no time for fighting back the legalities of the huge legal structure of this country.not their mistake,in the wageries of life where owning a car or a house is a life time dream for a govt employee such incidents are heartbreaking.
But then fighting back is the only way and being catuious while making our investments is one other way.

Quite sad for the people losing homes. What better can you expect in a country where political leaders themselves abuse their power and rights. The real problem is with our judicial system and law enforcement. The constitution needs serious ammendments.

yoo man i so so agree with your post.. it's big time sad..

when the same thing happened in delhi.. people started screaming.. the authorities allowed them to have "illegal" constructions on some thousands and now this silly act of theirs to demolish all of that is making their life next to hell.. how the hell do these guys think about such stuff? just cos they r in power, they cant be allowed to do whatever they want to. bloody f***kers.

good post man!
take care!

that ppl are so naive - they buy houses from builders w/o checking the legality
not every1 is as aware... plus a lot are not even properly educated... thats y authorities are given some responsibilities...

although some were careless to buy the houses even after knowing the truth...

exactly... thats so true
"chalta hain" attitude... sab jagah nahin chala sakte hain

I agree... its the middle class which suffers the most...

But then fighting back is the only way and being catuious while making our investments is one other way
I feel both should be done...
coz all are not educated enough to plan their investments...

democracy has lost its meaning long back.it has retro-evolved to include unaccountability, apathy and anarchy.

democracy has apparently a universally admissible definition which unfortunately has been used as a camouflaging tool by the State.

we are free.we are democratic.but how much of that treasure we use??what we( thru ur blog, you) are talking is public opinion.we are free to express.but why is it that what we express ,what we put forth remain as complains??

democracy gets translated into visible freedom only when the bureaucracy or the executives are made accountable to whatever happens.

till then, the men who approved those buildings or the govts which sent and merrily accepted the power bills will sleep soundly...

nice post thou..

but precipitated my already damp mood regarding where we,as a country ,are moving...sply tht res in pvt unaided colleges..feel like butchering all the political honchos there..

@deepa-

chopping trees to allow road building or enlarging roads is not appreciative.but if the same tree is transplanted to another locationby chemically treating its roots, its acceptable( was done in hyd recently)

demolished residential buildings give chance for rejoice 'cos someone can actually plant trees there??:D how sane is such a thought deepa??the land would again hold buildings,if not now then some time later.
