Supreme dominance when staying alone…girls like it this way…

Disclaimer: I’m not discussing about what is better… Joint Family or Nuclear Family… just some observations topped with mirch masala… Why do girls prefer nuclear family!!!

My thought: The amount of privacy a couple enjoys in a nuclear family is beyond comparison…and that privacy give ladies an upper hand….

Plot: Fictional scenario… of my future home, where my wife (would be) and me are living (together) and an alternative comparison with my future home where, we all are staying in joint family.

Scene # 1:
Suppose she wants me to do some work for her…
Joint Family Scene,
She: (Very politely and sweetly), Puneet, can you please take that box out for me, I can’t reach it and it’s a bit heavy too

Same scene in nuclear family…

She: (Direct and with full aggression)… Puneet take out that box, I’ve some work.

(In both the cases I’ve to oblige… but look at the attitude ;-))

Scene # 2:
Warm Welcome when I’m late…

In joint family, with everyone around, the anger will tend to cool down… and by the time we will be thru with food it would be easy for me to take charge of the situation.

In nuclear family, the moment door is opened… I’ll be welcomed with a series of questions… non-stop… without any intentions of knowing the answers…
Why are you late?
You told me you would reach on time today.
You called me long back… does it takes this long to reach home…
Are you sure you are coming to home directly
Everyday this won’t do…

If I think of bringing some flowers to cool her down…
Zada maska marne ki zarurat nahin hain… time par ghar aaya karo
(No need to impress me… better come home on time)

"Never try to impress a woman, because if you do she'll expect you to keep up the standard for the rest of your life"

Scene # 3:
In case of a quarrel or fight…

In joint family, in front of all, we will have to show as everything is fine, exchange words… occasional smile (forced on face)… can have the privilege to eat home cooked food (by mom ;-)) and ofcourse can share the same bed room…

In case of nuclear family…
She won’t speak… unless I'm on my knees and apologize
(Followed by dinner out… long drive… some foreign chocolates and ice cream… oops I missed the pastries… and if the fight crosses more than 2.5 days then I could be easily spotted at any big shopping mall…)

What if I don’t dare to do any of the above?
Poor Me…
(kahawat to suni hogi… paani main rehkar magarmach se bair nahin karte)

First Impact on my food… (Remember I had cooking as one of the 8 points)

No breakfast…
(Ooh… What about tea… either make on my own or have a regular account with near by “tapriwala” (tea stall))
Lunch…
(Thanks to office canteen… but what about weekends… I’ll have to be a bit social then ;-))
Dinner…
(Now this is real trouble… my canteen doesn’t work 24/7… all suggestions from you are welcome)
She will order pizzas from Dominos and I wont be surprised to see only the covers in dustbin after reaching home… and if I’m lucky enough I’ll get to smell…

To have all the meals from hotel/canteen… is the only alternative I guess I have… or to cook on my own…but then kitchen is her territory and to enter there during cold war would be like crossing LOC ;-)

Next Impact on Sex life…

Once in fight mode then forget about having any official sex… (No explicit explanation on what is unofficial sex)
In Joint family, I’ll have the pleasure to share the same bed… or in worse case …atleast the same room…
Whereas if staying alone then… Drawing room sofa… worse situation is balcony… (Optimistically in a way better coz sharing the same bed and not doing anything would be like a hungry dog tied up and feast in front of his eyes ;-))

ha ha ha... may u get to live in a nuclear family and let ur wife do all these all this to u.. and dont forget to tall us all abt it.. :)
jokes apart, nuclear and joint family both have some adv an disadv, but how u manage to live and how u adjust to surroundings is wat is important :) Peace and love is more important everything else is secondary..

Good Post Puneet..I was actually reading through the post imagining the Girl side version of the same story ;) that would be soo different from your narration and I could see why women and men cannot think like wise:)

closest translation of what Ravi Kanth said above:

Interesting post! :)

"Never try to impress a woman, because if you do she'll expect you to keep up the standard for the rest of your life"

Yeah thats true..But if it would be so nice if u guys dun stop. i mean the fire in the realtionshio will still sparkle and die if this is done occasionally right?

I guess living with a joint family plays alot with the impression we make/present. Especially for us girls. Living with the in laws. Just married. We surely want to give the best impression. And get under the favourable wand of theirs. So it can be pretty frustrating at times when u dun really have the liberty to show ya emotions full-time. I guess it can contirubute to being an advantage cause it teaches us how to behave?? lol does that make sense?

As for nuclear its tear ya hair out.more liberty and privacy to sort things out even for sex..you can run around da house..haha..LOL

Hmm..and it can be pretty stressful living with the inlaws cause there is an expectation u got to meet. not much liberty. And mouths or tongues may start waggins. Causes conflict. Sometimes unecessarily.

hmm...I dun know which is better from the other. but most girls definitely prefer nuclear cause they get their own freedom.

Hey Puneet i don't think dat a nuclear family or joint family makes a difference....it all depends upon the person how he/she wants to behave...n u know wat a person could behave in the worst manner while being in a joint family too(the cases u mentioned in nuclear family scenes) bt on the other side it can be the best behaviour without any complains or fights solving all matters calmly being in a nuclear family (the cases u mentioned in joint family scenes)......so i don't believe in ur concept b'coz according to me it is all upto a person's behaviour...
nyways good thought given...

A different point of view from a woman's perspective...girls like it this way too:)

Scene#1
Nuclear Family: She is all worked up and tired cooking, cleaning, doing laundery single handedly so at the end of the day he is the poor victim to face her wrath and deal with her tired mind. This also leads to 'no sex nights' which is enough to put him off :)

Jt Family: Heck, who bothers about all the work, I did my share in the kitchen, let mother in law or sister in law do the rest of cleaning, and mopping. So at the end of the day she is all fresh and lively for him and they have better things to deal with :)

Scene#2
In case of quarrels
Nuclear Family: There is not much scope for escape

Jt.Family: Can always turn on to other memmbers in the family for emotional support. Can also share MIL or SIL's bedroom. Also getting sympathy from MIL works wonders in getting her confidante :P

Scene#3
With kids
Nuclear Family: Damm the baby sitting arrangements if both of you are working or if you have to catch a late night show or a romantic eve sometimes.

Jt Family: Baby sitting? Dada, dadi, kaka, kaki ke hote yeh behuda khayal? Saves a lotta expenses and the sole tension of taking care of kids.
