We Won: Malayagiri Cricket Tournament

A few day back I wrote about the cricket tournament of our building (Malayagiri) - "Galli Cricket", and finally we won the finals this time. During the first year when the tournament started, our wing was the runner’s up, in the second year we were jointly declared winners with the other finalist due to controversy and finally this year we made a clean chit. It was an amazing final match.

We bowled first and our opponent scored 104 in 12 overs. In reply, we scored 109 with a lead of 5 runs; in the second innings we restricted them to chase the target of 83 in 10 overs. It was quite a modest target but wickets in quick succession did the damage for our team. I came down the order to bat and at that time 33 were required off 3 overs. By the time my quota of 2 overs got over, we needed only 4 runs off the final over. The next batsman made no mistake and we lifted the finals trophy…

We lost twice to the same team in the previous two encounters of the league rounds but we bounced back at the right time.

Cricket matches are of complete fun. The atmosphere gets completely charged up. But now with cricket tournaments getting over, we will have to wait for other tournaments to begin.
